Yet Another SysAdmin Blog

Don’t worry, I won’t call it YASAB, but I do appreciate the nuances from titles like Yast and TWAIN. Recursive acronyms like Employee GNU drive me nuts, cheap jerseys though.

That conducting being said, let me introduce myself: My name is Preston Gallwas. I am a Network Analyst (or Systems Analyst or Admin depending on your HR department). I’ve spent the better part of the last 12 years of my life working with computers and computer networks and have been working professionally in the field for over 4 years now. In that time I’ve worked exclusively in the public sector for both county and educational organizations.

As a result of that experience, I have had the unique opportunity to work with Netware 5.1, 6, 6.5, various Linux flavors, a few Unix flavors (including HP-UX 11i), and of course Windows NT, 2000, 2003, and most recently 2008. I’ve also had the opportunity to en work a little with SQL Server 7, 2000, and 2005, though I must admit my ‘C knowledge in that area is of a fledgling administrator. I’ve worked with the Groupwise 6.5 wholesale nfl jerseys and 7 collaboration cheap nfl jerseys suite and managed both eDirectory, Active Directory, and NT4 domains. I also do a bit of .NET programming with C#, mostly relating to Directory Services (a secret passion of mine) and have recently wholesale jerseys begun to learn to use PowerShell.

I wanted to start this blog for several reasons:

  1. To promote the sharing of open ideas and solutions
  2. To provide a place for collaboration and reflection
  3. To receive input cheap nfl jerseys and feedback from others working in the industry
  4. To generate additional advertising revenue

“What!?” you say. As you’ve no doubt seen, I’ve placed ads at the top and right of my blog layout, as well Breaks as a google search box. I hope these ads are not only useful to you but that they will lead you in the right direction on occasion. That being said, I provide this information for purposes of disclosure. Please be aware that this is not the primary reason for having this blog.
